In 2017, PASSAR's District 11 Director, William E. Harry and Erie Chapter President, Raynold L. Prusia Sr. , saw a need for the establishment of a chapter in the Southwest portion of District 11 and began working on plans to establish a chapter in Franklin, Pennsylvania.

On January 27, 2018, an informational meeting took place at the Inn at Franklin and the meeting had enough candidates to establish the Benjamin Franklin Chapter and elect officers.

The meeting was graced by representatives of DAR chapters.

The newly formed chapter was approved a week later by the Pennsylvania Society of the Son's of the American Revolution quarterly Board of Management Meeting and a charter was issued by the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.
